Christina Maki
Social Media Specialist, Designer

Christina is 23-year-old social media specialist and web designer from Kansas City, Missouri. She spent the first few years of her life in a small mountain town in northern Wyoming before moving to Olathe, Kansas at the age of six. She attended Olathe North High School, participating in a diverse range of extracurricular activities including debate, forensics, art, photography, German Club, writing for both the school literary magazine and the newspaper, and Student Naturalist Club. She graduated with honors in 2003.

Christina started her first blog eight years ago, long before "blog" was a household term, and her participation in web marketing and social media grew from there. Experimenting with templates and graphics for her first blogs sparked an interest in web design, and over the years she has gained experience though designing sites and layouts for herself and friends. For the past two years, Christina has attended Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas as a part-time student. She is currently pursuing a degree in web-based graphic design, but also enjoys taking traditional art classes for recreation. Last year, the college displayed one of her bronze sculptures and several ceramic pieces in the art building during the spring semester.

When she has free time outside of work and school, Christina enjoys working in the yard, reading, and spending time with her pets. Animals are her first passion, and for many years she has been an active animal welfare volunteer with local and national groups. Following Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005, she travelled to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to participate in animal rescue efforts with the Humane Society of the United States. A former animal behavior specialist and veterinary assistant, she has also participated in several free spay and neuter clinics with local animal welfare organizations, and frequently volunteers for fundraisers to help local animal shelters.
